Protein Pancakes for Pancake Day 2026 | Healthy Recipe Guide

Pancake Day doesn’t have to derail your fitness journey. These protein-packed recipes let you celebrate Shrove Tuesday while staying on track with your gains. With 25-30g of protein per serving, they’re perfect for pre or post-workout fuel.

The Original Gains Stack Per serving: 25g protein | 30g carbs | 8g fat

Ingredients (Makes 6-8 pancakes)

  • 100g oats (blended into flour)
  • 30g vanilla protein powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 150ml milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Method

  1. Blend the oats into a fine flour.
  2. Mix dry ingredients (oat flour, protein powder, baking powder, salt) in a bowl.
  3. Whisk wet ingredients (eggs, milk, vanilla) separately.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed. Don’t overmix!
  5. Let batter rest for 5 minutes while heating your pan to medium.
  6. Cook 60ml portions for 2-3 minutes per side until golden.

Chocolate Protein Pancakes: Add 1 tbsp cocoa powder and use chocolate protein powder. (27g protein per serving)

Banana Protein Pancakes: Reduce oats to 80g and milk to 100ml. Add 1 mashed ripe banana and ½ tsp cinnamon. (23g protein per serving)

Meal prep: Make a batch on Sunday and store in the fridge for 4 days, or freeze with parchment paper between each pancake. Microwave for 30-45 seconds when ready to eat.

Perfect texture: Cook on medium heat (protein powder burns easily), wait for bubbles before flipping, and don’t overmix the batter.

High-Protein: Greek yoghurt with berries, peanut butter (measure portions!), cottage cheese with cinnamon

Lower Calorie: Fresh berries, sugar-free syrup, cinnamon, stewed apple

Balanced Treat: Dark chocolate chips (70%+), crushed nuts, banana slices

Pre-Workout: 1-2 hours before training for sustained energy

Post-Workout: Within 1-2 hours for optimal muscle recovery
